Need to measure something?

An interesting idea, but I’m not sure how accurate the rulers are.

Librarian replacement

Finally, a librarian replacement. I think she will work out just fine.

43places.com

43places is a type of social bookmarking site, but it is geared towards places that people have been and where they would like to go. You can post stories of your experiences, recommend things to do, upload pictures etc. Anyone with a travel bug will enjoy browsing the site. (For the technical among us, the site was created with Ruby on Rails.)

inkblots

After staring at black shadowpeople for a couple of months, I decided I needed some color. I saw a leaf today that was starting to turn colors. I also found some interesting moss on a stick that fell out of the sycamore tree. Each of these abstracts has something related to the bits of nature I discovered in my yard this afternoon while Daniel was swimming. See what you can spot in them and let me know.

Do you collect stamps?

Here is a neat idea for people who collect stamps or think they have arrived if their picture is on a stamp. If anyone tries it, let me know what you think.

More shadows

The original shadows are made of foam core. They are also more relaxed and even able to use shadow computers! This is the Student Center Display. It is the first component of the Shadowpeople of the library. The next component will be the banner. The final two components are the lifesize MDF Shadowmen and the brochure.

The Shadowmen go to town

They finally made it to Georgia Tech.

Shadowmen

As some of you have heard, I have a project for work that I call “Shadowmen.” They are basically silhouettes that are in the PR for the opening of the Library East Commons. There are banners, brochures, a large display case, and a web presence. The most interesting part are the life size figures that I have been constructing in my garage. Here are some views before they worked on their tan yesterday afternoon. I will post more when the project is complete.

Sentry Mountain

022.jpgView from the lodge

Maybe one day I will make it to this vacation destination. I don’t think I would do the winter ski thing, but I think I would enjoy the summer season. I think anyplace that you have to take a helicopter in and out of would meet the criterion of being unavailable. Cellphones don’t work there either. It kind of reminds me of the famous Northern Lights tour of 1997. It is hard to believe that next year will be the 10th anniversary of Nancy’s floaties in the water experience!
